Kick-Off Meeting | Online
On November 15th, 2024, the REMOTE-AD group gathered for a digital kick-off meeting. Our goal is to develop guidelines for the use of these assessments in Alzheimer’s disease, ultimately informing future research and improving patient outcomes. During the meeting, we outlined the project’s objectives, timeline, and subgroup structure. At the same time, the kick-off meeting marked the beginning of the continuous work of the individual subgroups where our team of experts will work together to achieve their goals, sharing their expertise and insights to ensure the project’s success.
First In-Person Meeting | Magdeburg
On March 10th and 11th, 2025, the REMOTE-AD group met at the DZNE in Magdeburg, Germany to discuss the REMOTE-AD project, focusing on prioritizing use cases and defining boundaries for remote digital tools in healthcare. We identified key use cases, including detecting Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), monitoring cognitive decline, and prognostic assessment. We also explored the potential of remote digital tools for pre-diagnosis monitoring, direct-to-consumer testing, and tailoring in-clinic visits.
Our discussion highlighted the potential of remote digital tools to revolutionize the way we approach cognitive health. By enabling early detection, monitoring, and prognosis, these tools can help healthcare providers tailor treatment plans to individual patients‘ needs. We also recognized the importance of considering the broader healthcare ecosystem, including regulatory implications, insurance coverage, and access to specialty care.
Our next steps will focus on developing concrete recommendations for research and clinical practice, including guidelines for remote digital tool development, validation, and implementation. We are excited to continue this important work and contribute to the advancement of remote digital healthcare.
First Interim Progress Meeting | Online
On May 22nd, 2025, the REMOTE-AD group met online to present the progress made since the first in-person meeting in Magdeburg. Relevant use cases and their implications were introduced by subgroup 1 and discussed by the group. This led to a collective consensus regarding most use cases, leaving room for future discussion, and action items for the other subgroups. Subgroup 4 introduced a preliminary framework for important considerations regarding the implementation of remote tools, as well as a general roadmap outlining potential patient journeys. Moving forward, subgroups 2, 3, and 4 will continue working on the general considerations for the use of remote tools in Alzheimer’s disease, as well as specific recommendations for each use case.
Second Interim Progress Meeting | Online
